The Bulgarian quest for Swiss-style neutrality had thus led the country to be at war with Britain, Germany, the Soviet Union and the United States.

As much as I dislike the idea of being ruled by a corporation someday (although it sounds less bad than being ruled by our behemoth of a government), I wouldn't mind being ruled by a corporation as seamlessly cool as Google. (As leftist as they are. When they're ruling conservatives, they better start recognizing holidays we enjoy, not May Day and other leftist holidays.)

Back to the point. Gmail themes just came out today, and it is about as awesome as you could imagine. Yeah, its just themes. Big whoop. But email is one of those things you check many, many times per day and its cool to have that personalized.

Bush's Rarely Talked about Success in Africa

One thing that I will never forgive my country for is the demonization of George W. Bush. I'll admit that he has made mistakes, but I believe that many, if not all of those mistakes stem from the fact that he thinks from the heart more often than he thinks from the head. Here's an excerpt from an important article in the Boston Globe, "Bush's enduring legacy in Africa"

The Bush administration doubled foreign aid worldwide over the past eight years, the largest increase since the Truman administration, and used it to encourage poor countries to undertake political and economic reform. Total US government development aid to Africa alone has quadrupled from $1.3 billion in 2001 to more than $5 billion in 2008, and is scheduled to go to $8.7 billion in 2010, principally for education (primary school enrollment in Africa is up 36 percent since 1999), healthcare, building civil society, and protecting fragile environments.

These are not the kind of numbers that lend themselves well to the traditions of spend-less conservatism. Bush has gotten into trouble for keeping taxes low while increasing spending. That's another problem that comes from his head-heart conundrum. He really believes that lower taxes help lower-class folks, and but also doesn't want to hurt Africans by neglecting them.

I think history will prove Bush to be a great humanitarian and I believe that after his time is up in office he will shy away from the spotlight and continue to help Africa. He won't care if the media mentions his efforts, because he's never cared what they thought about him while he's in office. If he was going to let public opinion affect his decisions, this country would be dramatically different.

Pat Sajak on Rugrats

Yeah, this is kind of a weird topic for a post, but I felt like it anyway. One of the earliest memories I have as a kid is Pat Sajak and his humongous face on an episode of Rugrats, one of the classic cartoons that made Nickelodeon a really great channel for a while. So yeah, here's a picture I found of him. Its the best I could find.

At first I was skeptical of this site, but lately it has become more and more obvious that it has taken a turn to the right. This is excellent, mostly because I get a laugh out of all of the liberals who probably started reading it thinking it was light-hearted satire, but then ended up with scathing criticism. Here's a quote from one of the SWPL contest winners, who's article was titled "Comparing People to Hitler":

Here's his weekly radio address. I can understand how some people could be annoyed by how frequently he uses words like freedom, democracy, liberty, etc., but I think it is so awesome. This could stem from the fact that Bush was the first president I ever really knew, and since I was a fan of America to begin with, I just naturally love the man. He's like a grandfather to me. LOL.

THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. I'm speaking to you from Europe, where I attended the NATO summit and witnessed the hopeful progress of the continent's youngest democracies.

The summit was held in Romania, one of the 10 liberated nations that have joined the ranks of NATO since the end of the Cold War. After decades of tyranny and oppression [ed note: BOOOO!], today Romania is an important member of an international alliance dedicated to liberty, and it is setting a bold example for other former communist [ed note: HISSSSS] nations that desire to live in peace and freedom.

One of those nations is Croatia, which I'm also visiting on my trip. Croatia is a very different place than it was just a decade ago. Since they attained their independence, the Croatian people have shown the world the potential of human freedom. Rice and Thomas

I was suprised that almost no one has commented on Wright’s slurs against Justice Thomas (“Clarence Colon” ) and Secretary Rice (Con-damn-nesia”). Neither Obama nor any prominent African-American voiced outrage. Why? The two most powerful African-Amerians in public service are an apparent embarrassment to their own communities, due to their ties to conservatives. In other words, in the Ward Churchillian mode, one is not necessarily as much African-American by race as by ideology;thus a half-white Obama of African heritage, who experienced far less prejudice than the older, darker, and African-American Thomas, is the more authentic African-American because of his leftist Chicago politics and his patronage of the fiery Wright

This has real repercussions for future racial relations. Since the liberal left has been able to dictate to the African-American population that a particular leftwing philosophy is essential to one’s genuine (as opposed to false) identity.

The fact that Clarence Thomas almost certainly was subject to more prejudice during his life than Obama is of no concern to Reverend Wright. He is not speaking for the black man, he is speaking for the anti-conservative black man, i.e. himself. Any attempt by Obama to describe Wright's comments as typical black resentment are ridiculous, because there are successful blacks who have endured significantly more hardships in their lives than the Senator, yet they seemingly do not hold any of these resentments.

All in all—a mess.

Lost in all this is that the racial healer Obama has probably done more to set back racial politics than almost any recent public figure in memory. His Rev. Wright is worse than Farrakhan whom the reverend praises.

Had a Colin Powell or Condoleezza Rice run for President, the black vote would have split 50/50, there would have been no such extremists in the closet to worry about, and race would have been irrelevant. But Obama, who talked about making race as unimportant from the very beginning, through his ties with this racist church, with his pandering to Wright, with his wife’s outbursts, and by his own words in his memoirs, has made racial identity the center of his political existence. The final irony? A Powell or Rice no doubt experienced racial prejudice far more than did the younger, bi-racial Obama who did not grow up as an African-American on the mainland.

For Obama to declare himself the "non race" candidate is ridiculous, because everything he does is as the "black candidate." There could have been far more qualified African-Americans who would not have all the skeletons that Obama has and race simply would have been actually a non-issue because there would have been more substance to the candidate. Obama is the candidate for white Democrats to erase their "white guilt," despite the fact that all he is is the black candidate. Its reverse racism at its most hilarious.
Instead of trying to find the right candidate, whether he's (or she's) white, black, hispanic, asian, etc., they chose the black candidate and ignored all of the things that might be wrong with him, and now they are dealing with the problems of choosing a candidate based on the color of his skin, and ignoring all of the things that might be wrong with him.
And now Obama refuses to actually address Wright's statements, he refused to really condemn those statements, because he needed that hatred of the black voters of the white population of the US to become what he is now. They voted for him because he is the black candidate.

Basically, Obama has two problems and he cannot really shirk either one of them. One: He actually had no idea about what Reverend Wright said, in which case: do we really want to elect a president that ridiculously oblivious to the statements of one of his closest advisors?
Two: He knew what Wright said, and had to grin and bear it because he couldn't afford to lose his most loyal constituency. If this is the case, as I suspect it is, (after all, these statements were made and pointed out by conservative bloggers over a year ago and its just becoming news now), then he has simply been lying about his ending "politics as usual",his "hope" and "change" that he has been talking about since his candidacy basically began. Obviously, people expect politicians to lie, but for a presidential candidate to hear the kind of things that Wright said and not address them, or possibly agree with them, makes him the kind of candidate I don't believe can possibly win this election. Either he's incompetent or he's a liar and possibly really has vitriolic feelings for the white establishment in this country, and we really don't need that kind of candidate. If anything comes out of this, I hope it makes people see through the "Obamessiah" facade that his supporters stand by. With all the idiotic things his advisors and staffers have done, (eg. Staffer saying Hillary and Obama both aren't ready to answer the proverbial 3AM phone call.), I'm inclined to believe he's just imcompetent, but I'm personally fine, as a Republican, with Obama losing votes because people are scared of Wright's disgusting rhetoric. That is Obama's problem and he does have to deal with it, this is one scandal the Mainstream Media can't whitewash.

Mexican criminal organizations use national parks for pot cultivation

Marijuana cultivation on public lands has created a litany of problems. An increasing number of unsuspecting
campers, fishermen, hikers, hunters, and forest and park officials have been intimidated, threatened, or even physically harmed when they neared marijuana cultivation
sites. To establish and maintain a marijuana field, traffickers must clear cut native plants and trees; poach and hunt wildlife; devastate the soil with insecticides, herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers; and divert natural waterways like springs, streams, and creeks. According to the National Park Service, 10 acres of forest are damaged for every acre planted with marijuana, with an estimated cost of $11,000 per acre to repair and restore land that has been contaminated with the toxic chemicals, fertilizers,
irrigation tubing, and pipes associated with marijuana cultivation.

By smoking pot, you might think that you are being one with the land, but I'm doing more to help the environment (not that I really give a crap one way or another) by not smoking pot than you are by lighting your doobie.

National Drug Control Strategy 2008

I'm not a fan of drugs. Here's my take on one of the most interesting parts of the Bush Administration's report which can be found here.

In 1996, California became the first State to allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes. California’s Proposition 215, also known as the Compassionate Use Act of 1996, was intended to ensure that “seriously ill” residents of the State had access to marijuana for medical purposes, and to encourage Federal and State governments to take steps toward ensuring
the safe and affordable distribution of the drug to patients in need.

California now has more than 12,000 registered medical marijuana cardholders and an estimated 310 medical marijuana dispensaries. The quantity of medical marijuana moving through each dispensary is staggering: conservative estimates suggest at least 500 pounds of marijuana per year per dispensary. This means 155,000 pounds of marijuana moved for “medical” purposes or 12.29 pounds of marijuana per registered patient. As approximately 1,200 marijuana cigarettes can be made per pound, each user would be provided with 14,734 marijuana cigarettes per year, or 41 marijuana cigarettes
a day.

To anyone who says that these dispensaries are perfectly well handled, WAKE UP. This means that the government of California is basically handing out marijuana to anyone who can pretend they are in pain. And don't give me that people with Glaucoma need it. Only 2% of the users in California who use medicinal marijuana have either Glaucoma, AIDS or Cancer. Its not being used predominantly by senior citizens either. Only 2% of users prescribed with use for medicinal marijuana are 60 or older, while over 60% are under 40.

I didn't read the entire report, but one positive thing that came out of it is that, despite glamorization of drugs by Hollywood, drug use is down in youths across the country, for all major drugs including marijuana. For those who say we're losing the War on Drugs, look again.

Elections 08

I probably won't write about them much here. I'll vote for McCain probably for the same reason that all those airheads say they will vote for Obama. (Heh, Firefox still throws up a red line under Obama for spelling, but none for McCain), because he says he'll remove our troops from Iraq, regardless of the situation. Ignore the fact that we're winning over there. Ignore the fact that the surge is working. Fine. You cannot ignore the humanitarian crisis that will break out over there if we do not give the Iraqis more time to get their shit together. Obviously that's not the only reason I won't vote for Obama, as the thought of voting for him has never crossed my mind, but that, to me, is the most important reason. Believe it or not, I have never fainted because an articulate African-American said the word "change."

here’s a great story about my favorite Halloween.
I dressed up like a scarecrow (i.e. stuffed my pants and sleeves with newspaper and wore a weird shirt that only a scarecrow would think about wearing), and sat in a chair on my porch, with a bowl of candy on my lap. (this leaves room for sick jokes, but halloween is a kid’s holiday, and I didn’t do anything sick). For some of the trick-or-treaters, I would sit perfectly still. and listen to them ask their moms if I was real as they walked away. “Of course not.” was my favorite response from the mothers. I was doing my job well. Sometimes, I scared people as they grabbed the candy, and some people were too scared to even get candy from the bowl, fearing that I mights scare them to death. I felt really accomplished.

So today, at Burger King, where the only channel ever on is the dreaded CNN, they ask the question which anyone with a (republican) brain could predict the answer to:
Who are your favorite candidates for the upcoming election, in either party?
Some guy starts off, "If I had to choose a Republican (par for the CNN course, obvious bias) I would choose Ron Paul." What a fucking joke. The guy is getting donations from Neo-Nazis, and he's the guy that CNN thinks is the best guy for the Republicans. Let me ask this, if the Republicans are as retarded as CNN would like America to think they are, why the hell do they even exist at all? How could anyone with a brain possibly support the idea that Radical Islam is something that needs to be dealt with? Nah, let's be like Dennis Kucinich and have a sitdown with a maniac leader in the Middle East and laugh off his insane anti-Jewish ideas.
I immediately stopped listening and put my headphones on and went back to my newspaper. I've never read this paper before, (I'm new to the Washington area) and they have a section: Today in History:

First off, anybody who thinks there's no such thing as media bias doesn't have a functioning brain in their head. Second, this paper showed their bias, as well as shedding light on the bias of the Democratic party by saying that Kerry's remarks only drew criticism from Republicans. What he said is insulting on numerous levels, and should've drawn criticism from all sides. Not only are soldiers braver than most Democrats, but they are willing to sacrifice themselves for the safety of our country, and then Kerry has the balls to suggest that they only did that because they were bad in school. Its all kinds of insulting.

Also, they think the body armor that the soldiers wear also contains an air conditioner. Unbelievable the types of lies that are spread.

Read this article. It almost brought me to tears. The city of Ramadi has gone from being one of the most dangerous in the world to a place where soldiers can walk around without helmets on.

This is known as the pro-Palestinian troll hammer. It is the end-all be-all of debate between the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (read: Arab hatred of Jews for no reason)

Are you aware that the Disputed Territories never belonged to the “Palestinians” and only came into Israeli possession as a result of the 1967 six day war in which Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon all massed forces at Israel’s border in order to “push the Jews into the sea”. The Arabs lost and Israel took control of the land. Do you agree that if the Koranimals don’t want to lose territory to Israel, then they shouldn’t start wars? Do you agree that there is justice that Israel, who as far back as 1948 has always sought peace with her far larger neighbors, should live in prosperity - making the desert bloom - while the residents of 19 adjacent Arab countries who are blessed with far more land as well as oil wealth live in their own feces?

2. Did you know that the “Palestinians” could have had their own country as far back as 1948 had they accepted the UN sponsored partition plan which gave Israel AND the Palestinians a countries of their own on land which Jews had lived on for thousands of years before Mohammed ever had a wet dream about virgins? The Arabs rejected the UN offer and went to war with the infant Israeli nation. The Arabs lost and have been whining about it ever since. Do you agree this is like a murderer who kills his parents and asks for special treatment since he is now an orphan?

3. Can you tell us ANY Arab country which offers Jews the right to be citizens, vote, own property, businesses, be a part of the government or have ANY of the rights which Israeli Arabs enjoy? Any Arab country which gives those rights to Christians? How about to other Arabs? Wouldn’t you just LOVE to be a citizen of Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iran, or Syria?

4. Since as many Jews (approximately 850,000) were kicked out of Arab countries as were Arabs who left present day Israel (despite being literally begged to stay), why should Arabs be permitted to return to Israel if Jews aren’t allowed to set foot in Arab countries? Can you explain why Arabs can worship freely in Israel but Jews would certainly be hung from street lamps after having their intestines devoured by an Arab mob if they so much as entered an Arab country?

5. Israel resettled and absorbed all of the Jews from Arab countries who wished to become Israelis. Why haven’t any Arab countries offered to resettle Arabs who were displaced from Israel, leaving them to rot for 60 years in squalid refugee camps? And why are those refugee camps still there? Could it be that the billions of dollars that the UNWRA has sent there goes to terrorist groups like Hamas, Islamic Jihad, El Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, or Hezbollah? How did Yassir Arafat achieve his $300 million in wealth? Why aren’t these funds distributed for humanitarian use?

6. Did you know that the Arabs in the disputed territories (conquered by Israel in the 1967 war which was started by Arabs) and who are not Israelis already have two countries right now? And that they are called Egypt and Jordan?

7. If your complaint is about the security fence which Israel is finally building in the Disputed Territories, are you aware that it is built solely to keep the “brave” Arab terrorists out so that they can no longer self detonate on busses, in dining halls or pizzerias and kill Jewish grandmothers and schoolchildren? Why are the Arabs so brave when they target unarmed civilians but even when they outnumber their opponents they get their sandy asses kicked all the way to Mecca when they are faced with Jewish soldiers? Why do Arab soldiers make the French look like super heroes?

8. Please explain why you are so concerned about Arabs, who possess 99% of the land in this region and are in control of the world’s greatest natural resource, which literally flows out of the ground? Can’t their brother muslims offer some of the surplus land and nature’s riches to the “Palestinians”? Or is it true that Arabs are willing to die right down to the last “Palestinian”?

9. Why do you not exhibit the same level of concern for say, people in Saudi Arabia who are beheaded, subject to amputation, stoning, honor killing etc.? What about women who are denied any semblance of basic civil rights, including the right not to be treated as property for the entertainment and abuse of her father, brothers, or husbands? What about the Muslims in Sudan and Egypt who are still enslaved, or the women there whose genitalia are barbarically cut off? How about the oppression of Shiites by Sunnis, the gassing of the Kurds by Iraq, or the massacre of “Palestinians” by Jordan (Black September)? Why doesn’t this concern you?

10. Did you ever stop to wonder how much better off everyone in the region would be if Arabs stopped trying to kill Jews and destroy Israel? What would happen if the Israelis gave up their weapons and disarmed? Would they live to see the next day? But what would happen if the Arabs completely disarmed? You know the answer: They would all be AT PEACE! And if there is no war to rile them up, the Arabs would be forced to look at their own repressive, pre-medieval societies. Why would they want to do that when there are Jews to kill?

11. Have you heard “People who define themselves primarily by what they hate, rather than who they love, are doomed to failure and misery”? Can you see the parallels to the Arabs, who are blessed with land and oil, but still gladly train their children to kill themselves in order to kill Jews? Have you heard Golda Meir’s words to the effect of “There will be peace when the Arabs love their children more than they hate ours”? Why do the Arabs hate so much?"

I HATE anyone who believes in any type of 9/11 conspiracy. Its as simple as that. Its fine to say conspiracy when only JFK is dead or when nobody died when we went to the moon, but to spit on the memories of all of the people who died by claiming it was orchestrated by our government or anyone other than terrorists is just the same as treason as far as I am concerned. I lived about an hour from ground zero, and I used to drive by the towers every weekend. Its just sick and horrible for someone to be so out of touch with reality it makes me wish we actually did have some sort of totalitarian government, like the 9/11 "truthers" (as if there could be a more ironic name) so often claim we do, so that they would just go out with their death squads and silence all of these terrible people who seem to enjoy disrupting the memory of innocent Americans.

I was just thinking, I grew up with the term Boogeyman, but lately, I always hear him referred to as the Bogeyman. It bothers me. Wikipedia refers to him as the Bogeyman, but when I checked UrbanDictionary, there were more entries for Boogeyman than Bogeyman, so I think I'm right.

Here's a funny fact for golfers, whether it's true or not I don't know. The term bogey was coined supposedly in 1890 when a golfer was unable to shoot under par, and he exclaimed "I must be playing against the Bogey-man." It doesn't make sense to me either, but remember, this was 1890, and things were different.
